“Zakat, Tax and Customs” renews its call to take advantage of the initiative to abolish fines


The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority renewed its call on all its taxpayers from the business sector subject to tax regulations to take advantage of the initiative to abolish fines and exemption from financial penalties, which has entered its third phase, as it is one of the Authority’s initiatives aimed at mitigating the financial and economic impact on the private sector as a result of the measures taken to confront the spread of the Corona virus. (Covid-19), which was extended for six months, starting from the 21st of last January until the 30th of this June.

The authority explained that the initiative includes exempting taxpayers from fines for late payment and late filing of the return stipulated in all tax systems, in addition to the fine for correcting the return stipulated in the value-added tax system, which is related to returns that must be submitted or paid to the authority before the date of extension.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority indicated that the initiative includes three phases, the first ended at the end of March, and the second was until the end of last May, while the third phase began, in which the taxpayer is exempted from fines by 50% to continue until the end of June of 2021.
