– Eman Al-Roudhan: “Smart Meters” are the first fruits of real digital transformation in Kuwait

Zain Company participated in the inauguration ceremony of the smart meter system, during a special ceremony held at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, in the presence of the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mishaan Al-Otaibi, and the CEO of Zain Kuwait, Iman Al-Roudhan, as part of the Zain partnership. With the Ministry to manage smart water and electricity meter reading systems in the country.
During her speech at the ceremony, Al-Roudhan said: “It is a source of pride for us that Zain is a strategic partner for the government sector, represented by the Ministry of Electricity and Water, and a supporter of the success and launch of the smart meter project that we started in 2017, to be one of the first fruits of real digital transformation in Kuwait.” .
She added: “The smart meters project is considered one of the largest projects in the energy, communications and information technology sector at the state level, as it highlights the government’s serious vision towards adopting more e-government applications, and benefiting from the expertise of the private sector to provide added value to citizens.”
Al-Roudhan indicated that the project will provide flexibility and ease in dealings with the customer and the consumer of the ministry’s services, and will also provide more information on consumption rates and how to ration or control consumption rates, as this system will add great value to the state to follow up and stimulate the payment of electricity and water bills through electronic payment in all Ease and ease, especially with the maturity of the Kuwaiti market in adopting and using electronic applications and electronic payment channels.
She added, “Today, we are reaping the fruits of the participation of the public sector and the Ministry of Electricity and Water in the digital transformation journey, which we started together in 2017.”
Al-Roudhan stated: “Belief in the role of integration between the public and private sectors in advancing the digital transformation in the country, we at (Zain) began to harness our technological capabilities to serve the government’s digital transformation goals not long ago, as we believe that technology has an increasing role in all aspects of life.”
She explained: “As a leading provider of the latest digital solutions, we have participated in the public sector in many vital projects in various fields, perhaps the most prominent of which is our development of the Shlonk platform to follow up on home quarantine in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, our provision of safe area solutions in cooperation with cooperative societies, and our development of the (Shlonak) application Kuwait TV), which is innovative in cooperation with the Ministry of Information, in addition to our support for the country’s efforts during the pandemic by providing remote communication solutions, and other examples.
Al-Roudhan said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams that we have worked with in the Ministry of Electricity and Water since the beginning of work on this project, and assure our full commitment to harnessing our human potential and our expertise in a way that enhances our partnerships with various authorities and institutions in Kuwaiti society.”
