Vietnamese police have summoned a noodle seller after he filmed himself imitating a celebrity chef who served a steak wrapped in gold foil to a powerful government official at a luxury London restaurant.
Peter Lam Boye, a former activist, posted a video on Facebook showing him sprinkling herbs in a bowl of beef noodles in the same manner used by famous Turkish chef Nusret Gokce, who became a viral meme in 2017 with the nickname “Salt”. WL”.
It came after Tu Lam, the public security minister whose agency deals with monitoring dissent and activists, was filmed eating a steak at Gokce Restaurant in London’s Knightsbridge earlier this month, in a video that went viral in Vietnam.
Nusrat Steakhouse serves steaks wrapped in edible 24-karat gold foil, and is believed to be worth more than $1,000.
Bowie, who refers to himself as “Green Union Bay” in the original clip posted last week, ran into trouble within days, sharing a video on Facebook of police visiting his home in the coastal city of Danang.
In the video that Bowie filmed, he can be heard asking why he was called but the policeman refuses to answer.
