Thierry Frémaux, its director, has just announced the arrival of Tim Burton in Lyon. The American filmmaker, one of the most gifted and badly groomed of his generation, will set foot in the capital of Gaul to receive the 14e Lumière Prize on Friday 21 October. He succeeds Jane Campion in 2021, the Dardenne brothers in 2020 and Francis Ford Coppola in 2019.
Burton is nineteen feature films in 35 years of a career started as an animator on Rox and Rouky at Disney. Tired of drawing nice foxes, the young gothic man, fan of Van Gogh and Francis Bacon, realizes vincenta stop motion short film that pays homage to one of his idols, actor Vincent Price, hero of the Edgar Allan Poe adaptations by the king of the B series Roger Corman (The Fall of House Usher).
