The unemployment rate among Saudis decreased to (11.3 percent).


The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed that the unemployment rate among Saudis decreased to 11.3% in the second quarter of this year, this came in the labor market bulletin for the second quarter, according to the estimates of the labor force survey conducted by the authority on a quarterly basis. The economy recovered and the labor market improved, which was affected, like other countries of the world, due to the impact of the Corona pandemic. The results showed that the unemployment rate for the total population (15 years and over) reached (6.6%) during the second quarter of 2021 AD, compared to (9.0%) during the second quarter of 2020 AD. The results of the survey revealed a decrease in the unemployment rate of total Saudis (males and females 15 years and over) for the second quarter to (11.3%) according to the estimates of the labor force survey, compared to (11.7%) in the previous quarter. In the same context, the results of the survey showed a decrease in the unemployment rate of Saudi males (15 years and over) for the second quarter of 2021 AD; Where it reached (6.1%) compared to (7.2%) in the previous quarter, while the unemployment rate for Saudi females (15 years and over) for the second quarter of 2021 AD was (22.3%). The results of the survey indicated that the labor force participation rate for the total population ( Saudis and non-Saudis (15 years and over) for the second quarter of 2021 AD; It reached (60.8%) according to the labor force survey estimates, compared to (61.1%) in the first quarter of the same year. On the other hand, the bulletin showed an increase in the rate of participation in the labor force for Saudi females (15 years and over) for the second quarter of 2021 AD; It reached (32.4%) compared to (32.3%) in the previous quarter, while the labor force participation rate for Saudi males (15 years and over) decreased for the second quarter of 2021 AD; It reached (65.7%) compared to (66.2%) in the previous quarter.
