February 16, 2022 hits theaters The True Family, Fabien Gorgeard’s second feature film. A family drama with Mélanie Thierry, Lyes Selem and Félix Moati in the cast. The first trailer has just been released.
The film follows Anna, a thirty-something who lives in a relationship with Driss, the father of her two children, and Simon, a child placed with them by social assistance when he was only one and a half years old. Now six years old, the boy is perfectly integrated into this new life. A balance is shaken when Simon’s father reappears and asks for custody of the child. Then begins a heartbreaking separation between the little boy and the one he calls “mom” always.
This is Fabien Gorgeard’s second film after Diane has the shoulders, released in 2017, which already explored the theme of family and couples. First passed through the theater, he then tried his hand at short films, with Like a dog in a church.
The True Family won the Valois jury prize at the last Angoulême festival. For her interpretation, Mélanie Thierry won the award for best actress at the same festival. The film was then honored by the 2 cinema 2 Valenciennes festival, where it won the jury prize, the audience prize, and the student prize.
