The Minister of Trade is briefed on pioneering innovative projects in Sweden

Today, in his official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, was briefed on a number of pioneering priority projects for the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in specialized fields, such as: technology, environment, education, health, innovation, renewable and clean energy, and others. He also met with a group of investors, businessmen and company owners. Innovative.

Al-Qasabi began his visits in the Swedish city of Sickla with Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB), a company owned by the Swedish government, established in 1890, and one of the leading companies in smart and sustainable mining and high-tech minerals.

He and his accompanying delegation also visited Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, which is a teaching hospital that is the largest in Sweden, and affiliated to the Karolinska Institute – one of the most important medical research centers in Europe – and one of the basic medical universities in the world. During the visit, His Excellency met with a number of Saudi students.

He visited Kista, the headquarters of Ericsson, a leading provider of data connectivity and telecommunications systems, and met with a selection of ICT start-ups.

He also met with the CEO of Kista Science City, Karen Bingson, and was briefed on the city, which is based on the concept of the “triple helix of smart cities”, which is an innovative partnership between the private sector, the government sector and academia.

He visited the city’s Innovation Showroom and learned about cutting-edge technologies originating in the Kista ecosystem.

On his official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, His Excellency the Minister of Commerce met with ministers and prominent officials to deepen relations, develop opportunities for joint cooperation, and discuss promoting innovation, pioneering projects and advanced technologies.
