The decline in exports and stocks pushed cement sales above 15 million tons


Cement companies’ sales increased marginally during the first quarter of 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, in light of the decline in export and inventory quantities. A statistic for Yamama Cement Company revealed that total cement sales (domestic deliveries and exports) increased by about 3.8% in the first quarter of this year on an annual basis. The companies recorded total sales of about 15.5 million tons in the first three months of 2021, compared to 14.93 million tons for the same period of the previous year. Domestic deliveries in the first quarter of this year increased by 5.3%, to about 15 million tons, compared to 14.3 million tons during the first quarter of last year. On the other hand, export quantities decreased to 457 thousand tons during the first three months of 2021, compared to 637 thousand tons for the same period in 2020, a decrease of 28.3%.

On the production level, the statistic revealed that companies ’production of cement rose in the first quarter of 2021, by about 3.3%, to 15.57 million tons compared to 15.06 million tons in the first quarter of 2020. On the other hand, the companies’ total stocks of cement fell to 1.08 million. Tons, in the first quarter of this year, compared to 1.32 million tons during the same period last year, down 18.3%.
