“Statistics”: The unemployment rate among Saudis has decreased to 11.7%


The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed a decrease in the unemployment rate for all Saudis (males and females aged 15 and over) to (11.7%) in the first quarter of 2021, compared to (12.6%) during the previous quarter. The labor market bulletin during the same period showed a decrease in the unemployment rate of the total Saudi and non-Saudi population (15 years and over) according to the estimates of the labor force survey, to reach (6.5%) compared to (7.4%) during the previous quarter (the fourth quarter of 2020 AD). Through the survey, the authority indicated a decrease in the unemployment rate for the total male population in the Kingdom, reaching (3.7%) compared to (4.0%) in the previous quarter, and the unemployment rate for the total female population decreased from (20.2%) in the previous quarter (the fourth quarter). From 2020 AD) to reach (16.1%) in the first quarter of 2021 AD, and the unemployment rate for Saudi women decreased to (21.2%) during the first quarter of 2021 AD compared to (24.4%) in the previous quarter. The results of the survey revealed a slight increase in the rate of economic participation in the labor force for the total population (Saudis and non-Saudis 15 years and over) during the first quarter of 2021 AD; It reached (61.1%) compared to (61.0%) in the previous quarter. The results indicated a decrease in the labor force participation rate for the total male population, reaching (79.7%), down from (80.6%) during the previous quarter, while the labor force participation rate for the total female population (15 years and over) increased during the period to reach (33.6%). ) compared to (32.1%) in the previous quarter. The results showed a decrease in the economic participation rate of all Saudis (males and females 15 years and over), as it reached (49.5%) in the first quarter of 2021, while it was (51.2%) in the previous quarter (the fourth quarter of 2020 AD), where the rate of economic participation in The labor force for Saudi males (15 years and over) is (66.2%), while the rate of participation in the labor force for Saudi females (15 years and over) is (32.3%).
