“Snowpiercer, le Transperceneige”, Monday March 29, on OCS, at 10 pm
Before the triumph of Parasite (Palme d’Or and Oscar), Korean Bong Joon-ho is already a recognized filmmaker thanks to Memories of Murder, The Host and Mother. This success enabled him to embark on an international co-production in 2013, Snowpiercer, the Transperceneige, taken from the French comic strip by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette. The story of a train condemned to endlessly circling the Earth after a climatic cataclysm. A train that piles the poor into the tail cars and protects the rich in luxury compartments at the front. The first half of the film, the rise of the train by a bunch of beggars, is in the purest Korean style. Wild, bloody and baroque. The second half, crossing thematic wagons (classroom, nursery, nightclub…) to the mysterious Machine, mixes social satire and surrealism. The cast participates in the strangeness of this railway Noah’s ark.
