Our review of the animated series My Name is Groot: Marvel Universe Till You Thirst


CRITICISM – The small character tree of Guardians of the Galaxy lands its collection of short films on the Disney + platform. Very touching.

That aficionados of Marvel’s space adventurers Guardians of the Galaxydisappointed to see them make just a small appearance in the film Thor: Love and Thunder, console themselves. Disney + puts online, this Wednesday, five touching three-minute vignettes, detailing the childhood of their vegetable sidekick Groot. This little tree, on which twigs and buds grow at will, has a strong character worthy of the mood swings of a teenager. Like the Shadoks, his vocabulary consists of only a handful of words – “My name is Groot” repeatedly – but he has more than one stupidity and misadventure up his sleeve. Enough to overshadow the terrible and capricious Denis the Malice.

Disney+’s expertise in animation is well established, as evidenced by the delicious short films that precede the Pixar films. Coming from stop motion, director Kirsten Lepore gives her little bush an astonishing expressiveness in 3D. Concentration, effort…
