The General Directorate of Health Affairs in Najran announced that 644 surgeries were performed through the temporary contracting program during the first quarter of this year 2021, an increase of 58 percent, in King Khalid, Maternity and Children’s Hospitals, Najran New Year, and Sharurah General Hospital.
In addition to reducing waiting lists for surgical procedures, it was able in the last period to reduce the average waiting time for surgery appointments from 150 days to 18 days.
The health department in Najran indicated that the list of operations included 21 robotic operations and various surgeries in specializations, the most important of which are congenital and morphological defects of the heart, blood diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, kidney surgery, urinary tract, sports injuries, pediatric dental operations, general surgery and pediatric thoracic surgery.
She emphasized that pediatric urology surgeries are offered for the first time in the region, which has contributed to reducing referrals outside the region and providing care for a large group of children.
Najran Health indicated that more than 1,900 medical consultations were provided during the same period, in delicate specialties, including diabetic foot surgery, thoracic surgery, in addition to eye and neurosurgery (children), psychiatry and developmental disorders.
It indicated that the total contracts amounted to 85 contracts, 61 “looms” and 24 “partial” contracts, including 78 consultants and 7 specialists.
She pointed to the importance of the temporary contracting program in improving the quality of services, especially the specialized ones, during the last period, in addition to the decrease in waiting rates and referrals outside the region, serving the largest number of patients and auditors, and introducing new specialties.
Noting the contribution of temporary contracts to support the adoption of the board program in intensive care and the introduction of new health services that included the electrical regulators of the heart, stroke and dissolving clots, catheterization of congenital defects, endocrine diseases (children), chest diseases (children), internal neurology (children), The digestive system (children), tumors and palliative care, obesity, and heart diseases (children).
The Ministry of Health in Najran affirmed that it is moving forward in serving patients and visitors, and providing everything that would preserve their health and care, and save them time and effort.
