Match Nice-Marseille: an open investigation
An investigation was opened by the Nice prosecutor’s office on Monday 23 August, and the two football clubs were summoned by the League’s disciplinary committee after a fight broke out between supporters and players on Sunday evening, interrupting the match. No police custody is in progress, said the prosecution. Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu denounced “An insult to football”, claiming “Sanctions” for the “Guilty”.
Airlift with Kabul: seventh flight of exfiltrators to France
The airlift between Kabul and Paris continued overnight from Sunday to Monday with the landing of a seventh flight carrying 250 passengers, including some 240 Afghans, the army staff said on Monday. Since the establishment of Operation Apagan, after the capture of Kabul by the Taliban, France has repatriated a little less than a hundred French people and more than 1,300 Afghans. The ministers of foreign affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and of the armed forces, Florence Parly, were expected in the United Arab Emirates on Monday, where they will take stock of the French system.
Disappearance of Estelle Mouzin, new excavations from August 30
A new series of searches to search for the body of Estelle Mouzin, alleged victim in 2003 of serial killer Michel Fourniret, is to take place in the Ardennes from August 30, a source close to the investigation said on Monday. These excavations should last a week, in the presence of Monique Olivier, ex-wife of the killer, in a communal wood of Issancourt-et-Rumel, already explored in June and April. Research so far unsuccessful.
