Decreased employment rate in the cement sector to 72%


An economic report revealed that the total employment rate in the cement sector decreased to 72.2% during September 2021, compared to 72.7% in August, while it increased compared to September of the year 2020, which amounted to 68.3%.

According to Al-Jazira Capital, exports of cement and clinker reached 539,000 tons during the month of September, an increase of 5.5%, compared to the same month of the previous year. Nine cement companies were exported during the month, led by Saudi Cement 248 thousand tons, and 146 thousand tons of Arabian Cement, 41,000 tons of Yanbu Cement, 39,000 tons of Northern Cement, 34,000 tons of Al Safwa Cement, 24,000 tons of Al Jawf Cement Company, while exports amounted to 4,000 tons of Najran Cement Company.

According to the report, the consignments of cement and clinker for the month of September 2021 came at 4.52 million tons, a decrease of 9.5% over the same month of the previous year. Riyadh Cement Company and Yamama Cement achieved the highest increase in consignments over the same month of the previous year, at rates of 26.8% and 14.5%, respectively. On the other hand, Northern Cement and Al-Jouf Cement recorded the largest decrease by 44.5% and 33.8% for the two companies, respectively. And he indicated that the highest market share for the month of September 2021 was with Southern Region Cement with 12.2%, followed by Yamama Cement with 11.5%.
