Covid-19: end of three health restrictions this Wednesday, February 16

While the worst of the fifth wave of the Covid-19 epidemic seems to have passed in France, three new health restrictions will be lifted on Wednesday February 16.

It will now be possible again to buy and consume food and drink in stadiums, cinemas and public transport. The SNCF TGV and Intercités bar cars should therefore normally reopen on Wednesday.

In addition, the consumption of drinks standing up is once again authorized in bars and during concerts. Restrictions so far have required customers to remain seated and wear a mask when moving inside.

Reopening of nightclubs

Finally, discos and nightclubs will also reopen on Wednesday. They had been closed since December 10, 2021. These establishments will be subject to the vaccination pass, like bars and restaurants.

On February 11, the Ministry of Health had already announced that wearing a mask would no longer be compulsory in closed places subject to the vaccination pass, such as restaurants, bars and cinemas, from February 28. On the other hand, public transport is not affected by this relaxation.

On February 2, the government also announced the end of gauges in stadiums and performance halls, the obligation to telecommute and the wearing of masks outdoors. These restrictions, as well as those which will be lifted on February 16, were put in place on December 27, 2021 to deal with the Omicron variant.
