The National Committee for the Saudi Building Code has launched the Residential Building Code, according to the third phase of the implementation stages, based on the committee’s keenness to complete the system. The committee said, in a statement yesterday, that the code will be applied during this stage to all residential buildings for a period of 6 months, ending on the first of July 2021 AD, as an indicative period, and the engineering offices during this period bear design errors according to the system. The Secretary-General of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code – Engineer Saad explained Bensalah, that the code collects everything related to residential buildings intended for one or two families, whose height does not exceed 3 floors; In order to achieve public safety, durability, stability and stability of buildings, rationalization of water and energy consumption, provision of a healthy environment, protection of lives and property, taking into account earthquake areas and other risks, the Secretary-General affirmed that the code will limit fraud, mis implementation and diligence in residential buildings; As the contractors will be obligated to implement in accordance with the requirements of the code, and engineering supervision by the engineering offices. The executive regulations of the Saudi Building Code system have specified 5 stages for the application of the code, the first phase starts from the date of the system’s implementation until the end of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah in 1440 AH, and the code is applied to buildings Governmental administrative buildings, tall buildings, including (towers – more than 23 m, hospitals, hotels). In November 2018, the Minister of Housing, Majid Al-Hogail, inaugurated the Saudi Building Code, on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Investment, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi.
