Announcing the Nominated Bids for Renewable Energy Projects


The Ministry of Energy announced the list of candidates for bids received from the developers participating in the third phase of renewable energy projects. Al Dawasir with a capacity of 120 MW and the Laila project with a capacity of 80 MW.

Category (B) consists of the Al Rass project with a capacity of 700 MW and the Saad project with a capacity of 300 MW.

The Ministry indicated that a Request for Proposal (RFP) brochure was issued for the two category (B) projects on April 8, 2020, and for the two category (A) projects on April 22, 2020, and three bids were submitted for each of the four projects during the second quarter of 2021.

The ministry indicated that the results of the bids submitted were subjected to a process of examination and evaluation – in accordance with the requirements of the RFP brochure – to ensure that they comply with the terms of the brochure, and these bids will subsequently be subject to the procedures required to achieve the requirements of commercial and financial closure.

She indicated that all four projects must comply with local content requirements based on the mechanisms set by the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority. It is worth noting that the winning bids will sign 25-year power purchase agreements with the Saudi Power Procurement Company.
