An initiative to enable students with disabilities to participate in educational culture and arts programs in 3 regions

The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, launched the Arts and Culture Initiative for People with Disabilities, which aims to enable students with disabilities to participate and integrate into educational culture and arts programs, and provide them with rich, high-quality skill experiences, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s strategy to develop cultural capabilities.

The initiative focuses on providing an artistic experience whose philosophy is that anyone can live a unique theatrical experience, regardless of their previous knowledge of theatre.

All students are treated as artists capable of expressing themselves and developing artistically, as a number of government special education institutes, and private schools of private education from three regions in the Kingdom (Riyadh, Jeddah, and Tabuk) participate.

The initiative drew up a plan to train 36 special education teachers from the targeted areas, which began on December 5, 2021 AD with an (indirect) training for two weeks, followed by direct training for all trainees in Riyadh for five days – through the Brazilian international team (Oficina dos Menestries) – on Presentation of Inclusive Musical Theater workshops based on the (Ofsina dos Minestres Brazilian) curriculum for young people and children diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
