5 government agencies are working to activate the role of private laboratories in the monitoring system on markets, improve the investment environment by creating a national strategy for examination and testing, and strengthen a partnership between government and private agencies, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, in addition to drawing a clear plan to address the impact of Governmental regulations and legislation and the mechanism for their implementation. This came during a specialized workshop, hosted by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, with the participation of officials of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Food and Drug Authority, the Customs Authority, and a number of officials in the Saudi Chambers. The Governor of Saudi Standards – Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources – Engineer Osama Al-Zamil, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade for Consumer Protection – Eng. Omar Al-Suhaibani, the Undersecretary of the General Authority for Trade Facilitation – Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Zakir, and the Vice President of the General Authority for Food and Drug participated in the workshop. For Technical Affairs – Sami Al-Saqr, with the participation of members of the National Committee for Private Laboratories, representatives of the chambers’ councils.
